& Practice

Stephan grew up in a multi-ethnic household, surrounded by extended family and a culture deeply rooted in verbal storytelling.

The practice deeply ingrained itself in his method of interpersonal engagement, and soon he was spinning tales alongside the adults at family gatherings.

As Stephan grew, he devoured narratives in film, TV, novels, and comics. By the time he was a teen, he couldn't help but notice the disparity between the types of stories in popular media and his own– a conflict further exacerbated by his struggles to form his own intersectional identity as a queer, biracial kid.

And so he developed a storytelling practice that reflects his own questions about life & identity in the way he's always wished to see in popular media. Stories that prioritize and include mixed queer folks in their pursuit to engage general audiences.

His mission is to write thrilling speculative fiction for readers, like himself, who crave authentic characters that resonate with and represent them.

Stephan’s working on…

A fantasy novel - following a biracial potion maker's struggle to find a way to bring her two birth communities together before mercenary forces destroy them both

A short story collection - examining physical manifestations of the forces that affect our lives and how we as people authentically respond to them

A career as an arts worker in Columbus, OH - Working with arts organizations for ways to financially and professionallly empower artists, arts workers, and culture bearers to develop solutions to issues affecting their own communities
